3/25/1997 MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica--March 25, 1997--All-jet, champagne service to eight islands, more on-island vacation time, and multi-destinations will be offered on Air Jamaica starting June 15 with a new hub operation out of Montego Bay, Jamaica. "Over the past two years, we've focused on providing the newest, most comfortable aircraft and the best in-flight service on the market, a goal we've met," said Gordon "Butch" Stewart, Air Jamaica's chairman. CHEAP FLIGHT TO JAMAICA Beginning June 15, flights from nine U.S. gateways will arrive in the Montego Bay airport by 10:30 a.m. to connect with Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, Grand Cayman, Nassau and Turks & Caicos. The hub will also provide convenient connections to other Caribbean islands including St. Barts, Nevis, St. Kitts, Anguilla, Grenada, Tobago and more. CHEAP FLIGHT TO JAMAICA Four new A-320 Airbus aircraft complement the six A-310 Airbuses and the two MD-83 aircraft used on the entire route system. Unlimited complimentary champagne, Appleton Rum punch and wine, full hotmeal service overseen by the airline's "Flying Chef" and free use of the head-phones are among the onboard services featured on all Air Jamaica flights. Uniting the Caribbean "The Montego Bay hub provides an opportunity to enter into new strategic relationships with tour operators, travel agents and airlines to sell more travel to Caribbean destinations," commented Allen Chastanet, Air Jamaica's vice president of marketing. CHEAP FLIGHT TO JAMAICA "Air Jamaica is the one bright spot in an otherwise gloomy Caribbean air transportation picture this year," said Michael Youngman, director of marketing for the Caribbean Tourism Organization. "CTO applauds these initiatives and will do all it can to support Air Jamaica," he added. "The Caribbean Hotel Association welcomes and supports the creation of the Montego Bay hub by Air Jamaica," said Alec Sanguinetti, director of marketing for the Caribbean Hotel Association. "This development is in keeping with the need to strengthen the Caribbean regional airlines and to lessen the dependence of the Caribbean tourism industry on any one airline," he added. CHEAP FLIGHT TO JAMAICA "Air Jamaica is to be congratulated for this new development and their continuing efforts to provide the Caribbean with competitive air services at a high standard of customer service along with the introduction of their new aircraft fleet," Sanguinetti. New U.S. Gateway Air Jamaica inaugurated its nonstop Los Angeles service to Montego Bay on Sunday, March 23, with a brand new A310 with 218 seats (18 in First Class and 200 in Coach). A second daily flight from Los Angeles will begin May 3, 1997. CHEAP FLIGHT TO JAMAICA Since privatization in 1994, Air Jamaica has pursued a steady program of expansion, opening up more areas of the U.S. and United Kingdom to Jamaica. Currently, Air Jamaica has scheduled service with more than 120 flights a week from Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, New York (J.F.K.), Orlando and Philadelphia to Montego Bay and Kingston. The airline's joint fare agreements and compatible schedules with Delta, United, and Carnival extend its access to over 150 cities within the Continental U.S. In addition to Montego Bay and Kingston, Air Jamaica inaugurated nonstop service from New York's J.F.K.
