July 1, 2005 20:37 - Make your honeymoon an everlasting experience
Author: Mansi gupta
Honeymoon is the most wonderful time of every couple’s life. It
is a time to move away from all the hustle and bustle and to
relax in the arms of your partner in your own world. Such a
special occasion demands some planning. Planning can make your
honeymoon worthwhile. Talk amongst yourself and discuss which is the place that both
of you like. If you both want to keep your honeymoon confined to
your state, surely United States is a perfect place to enjoy the
exclusive moments. You can opt for the breathtaking city of New
York, the dynamic city of Las Vegas, Chicago with its adorable
summers or the ecstatic Michigan Avenue South in winters. If you
are an admirer of beaches, the spell bound beaches of Miami are
always a perfect and open option. Honeymoons within your state
are relatively less expensive than those planned abroad. But the
excitement and the exuberance is the same in both the cases.
If you want to freak out abroad with your partner, there are
several places to go. The awesome and romantic places in New
England like Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod, Newport, Maine’s
seacoast and so forth have their own charm that magnetizes the
honeymoon couples. Not to forget are the superlative and
incredible Niagara Falls and the Great Smoky Mountains. These
are some of the evergreen honeymoon destinations that are
thronged and adored by the couples. Besides your discretion also
consider the weather and the climatic conditions of the place
you plan to explore. For instance in the case of extreme cold a
move to a warm and cozy destination is an excellent idea.
Budget is always the highest parameter to plan any thing. Just
calculate the amount that you can spend on your honeymoon
without a second thought. If you have a low budget, try to
minimize the luxuries. For instance staying in a five star
hotel, traveling through Cruise etc. can be cut down upon. You
can take up an average hotel room and eat the food at a local
restaurant. But don’t commit the mistake of staying at your
friend’s or relative’s house. For that will leave you with least
privacy and tremendous frustration. It is also better not to opt
for a place, which is too expensive according to you for this
can land you into soup.
Always decide the means to travel to your destination according
to your budget. If your budget does not allow you to take a
first class seat in the plane, go for a second class. If you
propose to stick to your state, driving is never a bad option.
Generally during the wedding season all the airlines, cruises
and travel agencies provide some special packages especially for
the honeymoon couples. These packages provide ample of
facilities and at a comparatively low cost than usual. It is a
nice idea to avail these opportunities.
Take a travel agent that can advise and inform you about the
different honeymoon spots, latest and beneficial packages, the
cost etc. according to your budget. You can also search it out
yourself at the internet. Last but not the least avoid taking
heavy luggage with you. This gives a chance to shop around and
buy memorable things from your honeymoon destination. If you are
making a trip overseas get travel insurance done to have a
carefree and happy journey. Also keep all the essentials like
your credit cards, medicines, creams, camera, some foodstuff and
the like for it is better to have your own things than to hunt
for them at a new place.
So keep these tips in mind that make your honeymoon best amongst
the rest!

July 2, 2005 19:28 - What you need to know about – Travel in Luxury
Author: Mansi gupta
Luxury travel is diametrically opposed to traveling on budget.
‘Luxury’ as the term Suggests, is to have the best of everything
by paying the maximum for it. If you have money and want to make
your vacations a dream come true then go for the luxuries
available in the travel world. The Hunt for a Perfect Place- The first task to take up is to
decide a lavish destination. You can go according to the season
like if it is hot, its better to throng the beaches. There are
three world’s top most destinations in this category and these
are Caribbean, Europe and South Pacific or Oceania.
The Caribbean is the land of water. If you are a water lover
then there is nothing like this place. Well known as the world’s
fifth greatest water body, Caribbean has more than a hundred
islands which turn from the bottom tip of Florida to the
northwest of Venezuela. These islands are blessed with exotic
beauty of turquoise blue waters and sandy beaches. The
temperature is perfect throughout the year at around 80 degrees
Fahrenheit. What else one can look forward to are the
bewitchingly beautiful beach villas with the best of amenities
ranging from food to entertainment.
The next outstanding destination can be Europe. The place has
the best of everything and foe everyone. Besides a rich
historical past, this wealthy destination has all sorts of
scenic splendors. There are spectacular slopes of Scandinavia,
the humid Mediterranean and the peninsulas to steal your
attention.
How can one forget the incredible South Pacific or Oceania as a
luxury destination…the place has a bunch of marvelous islands
like New Zealand, Australia, Micronesia etc. that make you a
prisoner of their lust. The place has fascinating lagoons and
lively beaches to enjoy all types of water sports and other
activities for instance spinner dolphins, humpback whales and
the like. The Means to Commute- After you select the ideal place
for your journey, think about the way to reach there. Several
options are available of which private jets and helicopters top
the list. These private air modes have lots of benefits and
convenience. Their services are available round the clock. All
you have to do is to call up a private jet or airways company
and ask for a jet or plane. These jets not only take least time
to reach the desired destination but provide you with privacy,
peace of mind, no hassle of booking etc., luggage safety, all in
all a perfect journey. If you desire to sail then cruise ships
are the perfect option. Silversea Cruise Ships are a good and
wise choice. They offer you the best of rooms, restaurants,
entertainment like casinos etc. So there is much more to enjoy
along with the oceanic magnificence. Yacht is also a favorable
option for the sea admirers. Besides accommodation there is
accurate planning for all other requirements. The most renowned
luxury yacht so far is known to be SeaDream II. The
accommodation, food and entertainment- Go for the best of hotels
or resorts available. Make sure they have entire set up to take
care of not just your lodging but food and entertainment
(casinos, bars etc.). Health spas, gyms, parlors and the like
add one more feather to it. So what are you still waiting
for--Travel in Luxury- Experience the Heaven on Earth…!

July 3, 2005 15:11 - Bryce Canyon - a stunning US travel destination
Author: Felicity Walker
Bryce Canyon is not a canyon. It is the spectacular edge of the
Paunsaugunt Plateau, a place where intricately carved towers and
archways of stone shimmer in a dazzling array of colour under
the bright sun. The state of Utah in the United States is home to many beautiful
National Parks, and Bryce Canyon National Park ranks as one of
the most magnificent and awe inspiring.
15 million years ago the earth in this region began to shift,
forming a series of plateaus. The Paunsaugunt is an extensive
plateau, with the Paria River gradually eroding away the edge to
form Bryce Canyon.
The rock in Bryce Canyon is composed of layer after layer of
sediment deposits, deposited millions of years ago when the area
was at the bottom of a lake. Now the Paria River has exposed the
layers, allowing a detailed history of the lake to be determined.
The Park itself was established in 1924, and was named after an
early settler in the area, Ebenezer Bryce. He emigrated from
Scotland, married a local girl then moved southwards in stages,
building sawmills as he went.
In the mid 1870s he reached the Paria River, where he and his
family settled for a number of years. It was at this time that
Bryce made his immortal comment about Bryce Canyon - he called
it "one hell of a place to lose a cow".
The area remained basically undiscovered by European tourists,
the first guest houses only being constructed around the time
when the park was officially established.
Luckily this has led to Bryce Canyon being an area of largely
unspoiled beauty, as well as the enormous scientific value of
the historic information trapped in its pinnacles and spires.
The canyon is by no means a stagnant place - the rim recedes by
an average of about a foot every 50 years, and in this ever
changing scene it is water that plays the most vital role in the
shaping and eventual destruction of the magnificent scenery.
Because the rock was laid down in layers, there is a variation
in the hardness of the rock formed. When water runoff trickles
across the rock, some areas erode rapidly whereas others hold
firm.
This variation in erosion speed causes the formation of
pinnacles, or "hoodoos" of stable rock. In some places the water
seeps down through cracks and eats out holes beneath the
surface. When the side rock erodes away, an archway is left
behind.
Eventually the arch collapses, leaving two more pillars to join
the rest. The ever changing vista of colours, spires, walls and
archways is spectacular at any season, and the park is open all
year round.
In the warmer months there are plenty of trails for the visitor
to explore, ranging from easy strolls to hard hikes. Some of the
best trails are located in the Bryce Amphitheatre, located near
the entry to the park.
Here you can wander through the Queen's Garden, or gaze up at
Queen Victoria herself surveying the 'flowers' in her garden.
Some of the most awe inspiring lookouts are situated in this
area, including Sunset Point and Inspiration Point - a must for
any visitor.
Walkers can also follow the Fairyland, Riggs Spring and
Under-the-Rim trails, which are longer, but allow more
opportunities to see the different elements of the park at close
quarters.
Summer months can cause temperatures in the base of the canyon
to soar, so it is very important to be prepared for the heat,
and carry plenty of water.
In winter the roads are opened between snowfalls, allowing a
totally different perspective of the park. Snow capped pinnacles
stand out sharply against the background of white snow and dark
green trees. The air is also cleaner, allowing visitors to see
great distances.
For the energetic, it is possible to cross-country ski in a
number of areas in the park, and on some trails it is possible
to go snowshoeing instead of hiking.
If you want a slightly different view of the park, it is
possible to explore the park in a 1930 limousine. Alternatively,
you can rent a horse on an hourly basis to trek some of the
better trails.
There is plenty of interest to explore in the park, apart from
the marvellous scenery of the 'silent city', as the hoodoos are
sometimes called. The park also contains a large variety of
plants and wildlife, including meadows and forests.
Ground squirrels abound near the viewing areas, and their antics
are almost enough to distract the visitor's eyes from the
scenery. On quiet mornings and evenings it is also possible to
see deer, elk and antelope grazing on the meadows.
Some bears and mountain lions also enter the park occasionally,
but are rarely seen by tourists.
Bryce Canyon is a hidden jewel, thoroughly deserving to be as
well known as its southern neighbour, the Grand Canyon. Include
it on your itinerary, and you definitely won't be disappointed.
In fact, you may be completely overwhelmed by the fascinating
and awe inspiring beauty of Bryce Canyon, just like almost every
other visitor.

July 4, 2005 15:49 - Jasper – Travel to Canada’s Rocky Mountain Paradise
Author: Felicity Walker
Mention the Canadian Rockies, and most people instantly think of
Banff. As the main tourist destination in the Rockies, Banff is
very much a commercial town geared to tourism. But for those who
like their Rockies a little quieter, 250 kilometres north is
paradise - the town of Jasper. July and August are the peak times to visit Jasper, but if you
don't mind colder weather and like your lakes frozen, you can
avoid some of the tourists by visiting in the few months either
side. The weather can be haphazard, so allow a little
flexibility in your plans.
Six kilometres south of Jasper is Whistler Mountain. If you
visit early or late in the day, you will most likely hear the
melodic sounds made by the whistling marmots living on the lower
slopes of the mountain. Early birds can also get cheaper tickets
on the Whistler Mountain gondola. The terminus is at 2,500m,
with spectacular views south to the Columbia Icefields, and west
to Mount Robson.
For those who prefer to look up at mountains, there are plenty
of beautiful lakes close to town, all surrounded by snow topped
peaks. Patricia and Pyramid Lakes, 8km north-west of town, are
small and quiet. They have beaches just begging for picnickers
to sit on them and admire the view after a tranquil lunch. Herds
of elk and deer roam the area, and if you're very lucky, you may
spot a coyote or a black bear.
Maligne Lake is south of Jasper, and is the largest of the
glacier fed lakes. A boathouse from the 1920s completes the
storybook setting. There are a couple of excellent hikes in the
area, taking full advantage of the beautiful scenery.
Nearby is Maligne Canyon, a narrow cleft through the rocks
filled with roaring water during the spring thaw. It's also home
to a very active herd of big horn sheep, who can jump out of
nowhere to startle tourists.
For those visitors who like more leisurely pursuits, it is
possible to swim in Lakes Annette and Edith near town. Situated
at around 1000m, they are popular during the summer months,
although it's still not advisable to take a lengthy swim in the
icy waters.
After a few hard days of sightseeing, go for a leisurely drive
about 40km towards Edmonton. At the sleepy little town of
Pocahontas (she certainly got around!) take the turnoff to
Miette Hot Springs. The renovated spas contain two pools, and
are a welcome respite for tired bodies. On the way there you may
be lucky enough to see mountain goats beside the road, although
they're more likely to be perched on a cliff high above you.
Another excellent drive is route 93A, which was the original
road heading out of Jasper towards Banff. Now preserved as a
scenic route, the road offers a number of interesting stops.
Keep your eyes open, particularly during the quieter times early
and late in the day, because wild life abounds here. Mother
bears with their cubs have been seen chomping on berries right
beside the road!
The aptly named "Meeting of the Waters" marks the place where
two rivers join together. During the spring thaw this meeting
can make for spectacular waterworks. Further along, it is worth
taking the time to visit Moab Lake. A pleasant walk ends with
the magnificently sited lake, mountains hovering in the
background.
Skiers visiting in winter will certainly want to make the trip
to Marmot Basin, a popular ski resort south of Jasper on 93A. In
summer, however, it looks much the same as any other deserted
ski field, except for the breathtaking scenery.
One of the final stops before the road rejoins the main highway
is the Athabasca Falls. A raging torrent in spring, the fierce
waters tumble and crash over hundreds of smoothed boulders. The
adventurouss can explore further up the river, but wear shoes
with a good grip.
When the time comes to leave Jasper, there are two major routes.
Those who arrived by train can continue their journey either
east to Edmonton and on across the Canadian plains, or west to
Vancouver. This route takes you on one of the most spectacular
train journeys in the world, with incredible scenery in every
direction.
For those travelling by car, allow plenty of time to explore the
230km Icefields Parkway which connects Jasper to Banff, with a
slight detour to Lake Louise. The road follows a valley through
the Eastern Mountain Ranges, and offers spectacular scenery and
plenty of wildlife. By the end of the day you'll probably have a
stiff neck from craning upwards to see the view.
The Sunwapta Falls are set in chunky terraces of rock, and it's
worth taking a short stroll to the viewing platform. Peyto Lake
is a beautiful glacial lake, but should only be visited when the
snow clears, otherwise the gentle uphill stroll can become a
mammoth battle through waist high snow drifts.
Another beautiful stop is the Tangle Falls. Intrepid visitors
can do some exploring here, rewarded by a close up look at the
rushing waters. The best known stop, however, is Athabasca
Glacier. This glacier has been steadily retreating for years,
and there are date markers so you can see the gradual
regression. It is possible to take a truck ride on the ice, or
you can simply walk from the car park. Be warned - the weather
can change very rapidly during your visit, so be prepared.
The Weeping Wall is particularly interesting after or during
rain, with thousands of tiny waterfalls pouring down its rough
faces. And for those nature lovers with a penchant for moose,
try visiting Waterfowl Lake at either end of the day. It's home
to a number of these huge creatures.
The Icefields Parkway continues on to Lake Louise, the
magnificent setting for scenes in the movie "The Bodyguard".
Finally the road reaches Banff, leaving the peace and quiet of
the wilder Jasper behind for good.
Exploring the Canadian Rockies is a must for lovers of rugged,
mountain scenery. For those who want to experience the Rockies
and its wildlife as closely as possible to how it would have
been centuries ago, Jasper is the perfect base. The Rockies are
waiting for you.

July 5, 2005 20:37 - Travel Comfort -Discover How To Get Some Decent Sleep While Traveling. Even Those Cramped Coach Seats!
Author: Pilot Paul
Is travel comfort an oxymoron? Is it actually possible to be
comfortable and even rest or sleep while enroute? Can it be done
in coach? This article is designed to help you learn proven tactics to
travel comfortably to rest and sleep on your journey.
As an Airline Captain, I'm extremely interested in my
passengers' comfort. I'm also very skilled at sleeping on
airplanes.
What? A Pilot who is good at sleeping while flying?
On the long-haul international flights that I fly, we bring an
extra pilot. This is so we can rotate out and take rest breaks.
We have a crew rest seat in the passenger cabin. I'm very adept
at resting in passenger seats.
While on our rest breaks, we take our rest very seriously.
That's because our job is to be at our peak while at the
controls. Our 2-3 hour rest break is critical because that is
all the rest we get during those over-night flights. You depend
on us to be as fresh and alert as possible for the approach and
landing. Anything else would be negligent on our part.
That said, there are some travel accessories that will help you
get this important sleep enroute. Many crewmembers use these
things on our very important rest breaks. I don't like to leave
home without them.
If you are comfortable while traveling, you'll be much more
likely to sleep. Even if you can't sleep, which is unlikely if
you utilize these techniques and recommended travel accessories,
you will certainly be more rested.
You can use these strategies and tools to help you travel
comfortably and sleep in challenging conditions elsewhere.
If you have a routine you normally go through before going to
bed at night, try to do this on the plane too. For example, if
you brush your teeth, wash your face, and then read for a few
minutes before retiring at home, then do it on the plane too.
Studies have proven that this is also helpful for settling in to
sleep when you arrive at your destination.
Travel Accessories That Will Help You Rest While Traveling
Travel Pillows I use two. One to support my lower back and one
for my head. Without these, I usually can't sleep on a plane.
They're great for car trips too. I'm a big fan of the ones that
wrap around your neck to stabilize your head. They really help
you get as comfortable as possible. Without one, your head might
flop around, which may wake you up.
Without one of these, I've tried leaning against the window. I
never seem to get comfortable, and if I am able to sleep, I
usually wake up with a very stiff neck or back.
Having your own travel pillow is more sanitary than using the
airline pillows. Those are moved around everywhere and the
covers are not necessarily changed before every flight.
For a review and recommendations of the of travel pillows go to
http://www.pilot-pauls-travel-accessories.com/travel-neck-pillow.
html
For ultimate travel comfort, you can use a full body travel
pillow. This is an inflatable, full-length seat liner. I bring
mine on every long-haul flight. To learn more about this full
body travel pillow, go to
http://www.pilot-pauls-travel-accessories.com/1st-class-sleeper.h
tml
Sleep Masks. An important low cost and effective travel
accessory for avoiding jet lag symptoms is a sleep mask or eye
shade.
These are great for sleeping on the plane. Many people have
difficulty sleeping enroute because the light level changes
frequently.
Passengers turn on lights, the movie scene brightens which
brightens the cabin, people open their window shades, or the
galley curtain opens flooding the area with bright light.
Wearing some good eyeshades will make you oblivious and immune
to all that.
For reviews and recommendations of sleep masks, go to
http://www.pilot-pauls-travel-accessories.com/sleep-mask.html
Noise Canceling Headphones. To sleep on the plane, you need to
have it quiet. Since you can't control the noise level around
you, you have to bring the quiet along with you.
How can you do that? Two ways- earplugs or noise canceling
headphones.
Ear plugs are terrific for some uses. I always wear them in
noisy areas, like on the ramp when I check the jet before
flight. While they are small, light, and inexpensive, the
drawback is that I find them difficult to sleep with. Something
stuck in my ear disturbs my sleep. Every time my head moves and
the ear plug is bumped, it's annoying.
For successful sleep during my important rest breaks, I always
use noise canceling headphones.
I really love these headphones and think that they are one of
the best inventions in years.
Many airlines provide these headphones for their first class
passengers. But they have to give them back at the end of the
flight.
If you bought yourself a pair, you'd get one of the best first
class benefits at less cost than a first class upgraded ticket.
Then they're yours to keep and use whenever you're in a noisy
place and want to slip on some peace and quiet.
Warning! Once you've tried these there's no turning back. You'll
be hooked on them and will want to use them regularly.
For more information, reviews and recommendations of good noise
cancelling headphones, click on
http://www.pilot-pauls-travel-accessories.com/noise-cancelling-he
adphones.html
Travel Footrest. The first and business class seats have these,
but even in coach you can benefit from using a footrest.
Using a footrest helps in two different ways: o If you're tall,
it takes strain off your lower back. o If you're not so tall (or
a child), and if your feet don't touch the floor, this helps
prevent cramps behind your thighs.
There is an excellent folding foot rest available that works
very well. To learn more about this, click on

ml
Other Tips And Strategies For Sleeping While Traveling
Wear Comfortable clothing. Comfortable clothes, warm socks and a
sweater will enable you to sleep better.
Loosen or Remove Your Shoes. I often untie my laces to get some
extra circulation to my feet. Avoid/Manage Caffeine. In addition
to being a stimulant, caffeine also dehydrates you.
Avoid Alcohol. Consuming alcohol before or during the flight
will make it more difficult to sleep well. It will also
dehydrate you.
It is best to avoid alcohol from 12 hours before the flight
until you're at your destination.
These proven techniques should you sleep while traveling. Try
some of these tips and travel accessories on your next trip.

July 6, 2005 19:15 - Travel To Lake Louise - Vacation Capital Of Canada
Author: Catherine Olivia
If you're looking for a vacation getaway in North America with
some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world, a place
where you can see unspoiled wilderness and wildlife during the
day, hike, bike, or fish, and then be pampered with a massage,
facial, or body treatment, and enjoy a "high tea" in the
afternoon, then consider traveling to the Chateau Lake Louise in
the Canadian Rockie Mountains. A two hour drive from Calgary, situated on the bank of Lake
Louise a vacation at the Chateau Lake Louise will have you
thinking that you're actually vacationing in a Swiss Chalet.
Personalized service is the key here, any wish will be granted.
The Chateau offers a spa and health club, with an indoor pool.
There are at least six dining room serving hamburgers to Alberta
beef tenderloin with black truffle potato gratin, and everything
in between.
Travel here any time of the year. During Spring, Summer, Fall or
Winter, Lake Louise has something to offer everyone. Canoeing,
hiking, mountain biking, fly-fishing, and horseback riding are
just some of the outdoor activities offered in Spring. For
winter travel there is downhill skiing, heli skiing and plenty
of cross country skiing. Lake Louise is one of Canada's largest
ski areas with a 3,250 ft. vertical drop. A 40 minute ride will
have you to the Sunshine Ski Area which boasts the longest ski
season in Canada. Shuttles run between the Chateau and the ski
area.
If you're the adventurous type you might want to travel through
the Banff National Park area. The Bow Valley Parkway is a scenic
route that parallels Highway 1 between Banff and Lake Louise. On
this lovely and winding drive you could easily see a lot of
different wildlife, wolves, elk, mountain goat and moose. Banff
is also the home of The Cave and Basin National Historic Site
where the first hot springs were discovered. Also not to be
missed is the Sulphur Mountain Gondola which will give you an
eagle's eye view of Banff atop of Sulphur Mountain - don't
forget your camera!

July 7, 2005 19:50 - What you need to know about – Business travel
Author: Mansi gupta
Business trips or official trips are those that take you away
from your place of work for a significant duration of time. In
terms of IRS you travel away from your ‘tax home’ (the place
where you are currently working) to a different place for a
specific interval of time. A business trip is different from an
ordinary one in some respects. In the latter you decide which
place to go to have maximum entertainment, spend your own
savings, generally your family goes along with you etc. but in
the case of a business trip the most often your company decides
which place to go, the company pays for your trip (the food
allowance etc.) and most often your family does not hang around
with you. If you are the owner of a company the decision of
which place to go is centered round the bright business
prospects i.e. the best place you think would be to enhance and
promote your business. So business trips are to be planned in a slightly different
fashion than the usual. Usually the company does the bookings
for you but if it is at your discretion then think a little. You
can save some good amount here. Search online the various
business sites like Expedia, Hotwire, Kayak, Travelocity,
Priceline and the like. These sites will educate you about the
various things. For instance you can know about the hotels and
their charges, airfares, the cost to take a rented vehicle etc.
at the destination you are heading for. It is better to search
online and get your reservations and bookings done a little
before than the dates to leave for a thought of last minute
reservations can be troublesome.
While you making a business trip, try and save as much as you
can but without compromising on your basic amenities. Like avoid
spending your entire food allowance by eating lavishly, be fuel
economic i.e. if you take your own car (which is not a very good
idea) think about saving fuel expenses. Don’t move into casinos
and bars to part away with the annual bonus that you are sure to
get. If you are visiting a place for the first time, one night
to see the nightlife of that place is enough. Don’t carry too
many clothes with you. Some elegant official wear shirts and
trousers should be preferred than a multitude dresses. Pack your
suitcase nicely. Take that bag or suitcase which has several
compartments. It will keep your official papers and other things
segregated from the rest of the stuff (your toiletries etc.).
Don’t forget your credit as well as business cards to a camera.
Remember official trips mean more work and comparatively less
enjoyment. So make a note of all the essential official
documents that you need to carry for your meeting there and if
possible either leave a photocopy of them at your place or avoid
carrying the originals for there is always a threat to lose or
misplace them. Inform your family about your complete itinerary,
the place and the numbers of the hotel in which you will stay
etc. this will save them from worrying and will keep them in
touch with you. Make it a point to speak to your boss before you
leave, ask him any crucial work left undone. Also think about
payments of your bills if you are going for more than a month or
so. Keep an alarm clock with you for that will help you in
waking up on time and reach your workplace without delays.
Lastly, reach the airport or station on time to avoid missing
your flight or train. Go with a little planning and make your
business trip a huge success.

July 8, 2005 19:50 - Travel Tips to America
Author: VMT Singuillo
Are you visiting America for the first time? It is exciting and
thrilling isn't it? Can't blame you for that good feeling because if you have
been issued travel
documents to enter the US, you are one of the lucky ones!
Imagine, there are millions of people all around the world who
wish to visit the
United States of America but more than two-thirds of those who
applied for a US
visa are denied for some reasons! So congratulate yourself that
you have your US
visa.
Always remember that having a visa is not the end of your
struggle to have one.
It is just the beginning of more thrills ahead. For one thing,
as you enter the
United States of America, you will go through the port of
entries where
immigration officials will still determine if you can come in
through the doors of
the country. If you got your visa fraudulently, you can be
caught and be
deported!
If you are coming to the US as a tourist, the immigration
officers at the port of
entry will also determine how long you will be granted to stay
in the US.
Legally, you are only allowed to stay in the US only on the
amount of time you are
granted by the immigrations officers. If you overstay, you
become an over staying
alien and would be subject to possible deportation. However, you
may apply for an
extension of stay. Your application for extension, however, does
not guarantee
approval.
Remember, if you come to the US only as a tourist, you are
simply regarded as a
visitor. Having a tourist visa does not grant you a working
permit. This means
that a tourist is never allowed to work anywhere in the US.
Since you are visiting the US as a tourist, enjoy your vacation
as there are lots
of places to go where you will really enjoy. When you go places,
if you have a
credit card, you can make an href="http://www.yourcheaphotels.com onClick="window.location.href='http://www.thelowestpricelist.com/cgi-bin/counter.pl?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.yourcheaphotels.com&referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thelowestpricelist.com%2F200507.html'; return false;">online hotel reservations
. All you need is an access to a computer with
internet access.
If you plan to have long travels within the US, public
transportation is available
either by bus or air transportation. In the US mainland, the
Greyhound Bus
Company provides interstate bus transportation. The only
exception is if you plan
to go to Hawaii or Alaska.
If going by air, a lot of airline companies are available. An href="http://www.an-airline-ticket.com onClick="window.location.href='http://www.thelowestpricelist.com/cgi-bin/counter.pl?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.an-airline-ticket.com&referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thelowestpricelist.com%2F200507.html'; return false;">airline reservations
is also possible
online. Air travel can bring you to any of the 50 states of the
USA.
Well, welcome to America!

July 10, 2005 07:37 - Falling In Love In Ecuador
Author: Steve Gillman
On my first trip to Ecuador I discovered that the official
currency of is the U.S. Dollar. A nice surprize, since I thought
I'd have to find a place to exchange money at midnight in Quito.
Not only could I use the dollar bills in my pocket, but just one
of them would buy a three-course lunch at a clean restaurant. I
fell in love with Ecuador immediately. I fell in love with my
wife Ana a few days later. Quito, Ecuador
I loved Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Centro Del Mundo, the
hostel where I stayed the first few days, cost $4 per night,
including breakfast. The walls had maps and all the information
I needed on them. There were travelers from fourteen countries
there during my stay.
I took a tour to the volcano Cotapaxi, and hiked up to the
glaciers with three others, from Israel, France and England. I
danced (Free Rum in the hostel on Friday nights), wandered the
city streets, and took spanish lessons from a beautiful tutor.
Ana was not only a great teacher, but soon became my tour guide
and, eventually, my wife.
Riobamba, Ecuador
Riobamba is another beautiful mountain city. My hotel was $3 per
night, this time in a private room with a TV. The manager had
connections, and information on anything I wanted. He arranged
for a guide to take me up Mount Chimborazo, which at 20,600 feet
is the furthest point from the center of the Earth (due to the
bulge at the equator). After climbing 4,000 feet of glaciers, I
made it to the summit.
Banos, Ecuador
Back in Quito, I called Ana, and we made plans to go to Banos De
Santa Agua, a town in central Ecuador, famous for its
hotsprings. The bus was $3, a nice motel with cable T.V. cost $7
per night. The second day there, we ate out for breakfast, lunch
and dinner, went to the hotsprings, bought souvenirs, went to a
movie, went out drinking and dancing - and the entire day,
including motel, cost $34!
In fact, the entire trip, including airfare, the fee for the
guide on Chimborazo, and everything else, cost $1040. That was
for four weeks. How I kept it so cheap is a subject for another
article.
More Information on Ecuador
The mountain towns (Quito, Riobamba, Loja, Cuenca, Otavalo,
Ibarra, Ambato, Latacunga) have wonderful climates. Highs are in
the 60s to 70s fahrenheit year-round. Guayaquil and the coastal
cities can be hot, but the temperature is moderated by the
Humboldt Current, which brings cool water along the coast of
South America.
If you like beaches, you have many options. In Salinas, for
example, you can sit on a beautiful Pacific Ocean beach, while
vendors bring you everything from beer to ice cream to chair
rentals an music. For $20 you can rent a jet ski and have some
fun in the waves.
The Galapagos Islands are part of Ecuador, and tour information
is available in all major cities (It's cheaper to wait until
you're in Ecuador to book a tour).
Good meals can still be had for under two dollars in most
cities, if you eat where the locals do. Hotels in most cities
start at around $12 (less for a bed in a hostel). Cross-country
travel by bus is cheaper and more comfortable than bus travel in
the U.S.
The people of Ecuador are almost universally friendly, and speak
one of the clearest, easiest to understand dialects of Spanish
(A great place to learn). Ecuador is a safe, democratic
republic, with a legal system similar to that of the U.S.

July 10, 2005 20:08 - What you need to know about - senior citizens travel
Author: Mansi gupta
Are you drained of sitting at home, doing babysitting of your
grandchildren? Have your dreams to explore the world not turned
to reality? Are your eyes longing to capture the grandeur of the
world around you? If yes, don’t detain yourself from discovering
the world. Your age should not be an impediment in living your
life to the fullest. When it comes to traveling, a horde of choices are available for
the senior citizens too. From opting a perfect destination that
lives up to their tastes to the mode to travel and the place to
cuddle, all lie at their discretion.
·The destination- For those who enjoy basking in glory of the
sun at the beaches, locations like Hawaii Islands, Bahamas and
the like are ideal holiday spots. The connoisseurs of art and
architecture can move to the cities like Barcelona, New Orleans
etc. that are swarming with the masterpieces of eminent painters
and architects. Evergreen places like Switzerland, Germany and
so forth are never meant to be overlooked.
·The Decisive Factor The determination of a destination is
directly proportional to factors like budget, mode to transport,
the climatic conditions and the food.
Most of the senior citizens prefer and desire to travel
according to their pockets. Since the youth bids goodbye at this
age, the potential to earn more takes a backseat. The
expenditure is by and large made from the savings that mushroom
a little. Keeping in mind the state of affairs of senior
citizens, numerous travel agencies offer discount packages that
can be availed in the peak as well as the off season.
If you propose to make a trip within the periphery of your
country, the costs incurred will be significantly minimized. For
instance, you can accomplish your destination by traveling via a
bus, a rented car or a train. The fare will be relatively low as
compared to outlay on air tickets. But bear in mind that money
is not prior to life. If the distance is a bit too long and you
haven’t got the muscle to sit for long (in a train or bus) take
a flight. Your health always precedes your wealth.
A majestic feel of heaven on earth is readily available on the
deck of a cruise in a cruise voyage. There are several cruises
that can serve you with the best of all amenities, all you have
to do is discuss with your travel agent and search online about
it.
At this age you should not excuse food as a crucial factor in
determining the venue. A little search on the Internet and your
travel agent can familiarize you with the cuisine, tastes of
people and the luxury plus the budget restaurants at the place
you propose to go. Also if you have a petite idea about the
cuisine of the place, you can ask the locals the place they
throng to gratify their hunger. This definitely will correspond
to your pocket. Try to leave the home when the weather
conditions are adverse there and positive and enjoyable. It is
always prudent to make an assessment of the climatic conditions
beforehand and plan your trip accordingly.
·Some crucial tips 1.The senior citizens and students should be
extra vigilant in carrying cash. Avoid moving with lot of cash.
Take your credit card along. This safeguards you against
uninvited perils. 2.Carry a mobile phone. If that is
unaffordable, leave your complete itinerary and all the contact
numbers (of the hotel, villa, apartment etc.) with your
children. 3.Pack the clothes with your all your essential and
even not so significant medicines. 4.Last but not the least, if
on the cards get all the reservations done in advance for at
this age you should excuse yourself from the last minute anxiety
and stress. Things can be easy in life, all one needs is a
little planning and prudence.

July 11, 2005 21:19 - 5 Ways to Choose Your Hotel
Author: Erica Johnson
You are planning a holiday abroad for your family, and want
everyone to have a good time. You surf the internet for hotel
descriptions, but from the pictures that you see and what you
read, all hotels project a perfect image of themselves. How can
you tell which ones are better? You have never been there and
know no one at your destination. At the same time, you don’t
want a hotel room that will bust your budget. How do you choose? Check Independent Hotel Ratings Well, the first step you can
take is to visit hotel search engines for guest ratings for
hotels represented by the search engines. In addition to
pre-negotiated rates with individual hotels, most agents ask for
ratings and comments from previous guests. Reading their
comments will give you a fair idea on what to expect from the
hotels located in your destination. Be sure to read a few
comments in order to get a fair overview. Certain incidences
described may only be rare occurrences that may already have
been corrected.
Hotel Chains and Facilities Are they part of an international
hotel chain? Most international chains have stringent standards
that are adhered to as well as a standard theme across all
chains. They may have similar facilities (health clubs, spas,
business centers, etc) which are important to maintain the
hotel’s high standards. Other things you can look out for
include concierge, shuttle services to the city, airport
transfers as well as good laundry services.
Location Perhaps one of the most critical things when selecting
a hotel is its location. Hotels that are near to shopping areas,
train stations or the city center charge higher rates as
compared to those located elsewhere. Analyze a map of the area
before you book to determine the nearest shopping areas or
access to trains which will give you much convenience in moving
around. Also, check with the hotel if they have any large tour
groups coming in at the same time. Hotels charge higher rates
during high occupancy periods and do not have the flexibility of
late check-outs. These are important aspects which, if
overlooked, may affect your tour schedule as well as your
impression of the hotel’s level of hospitality.
Rates and Discounts Hotel rates are a huge factor when it comes
to choosing a hotel. However, paying more does not necessarily
mean that you will receive an equivalent level of service and
standards. One of the ways to maximize on prices would be check
if they are part of an alliance with flights or car rental
companies, which offer discounts to customers of their allies.
Sometimes, credit card companies offer their cardholders
exclusive rates to special hotels which can be pretty
attractive. Additionally, if it’s possible to use your frequent
flyer points to redeem hotel discounts, this could help reduce
hotel costs as well.
Boutique Hotels Finally, apart from chain hotels, boutique
hotels may are great alternatives for romantic getaways for
couples or families seeking hotels of a more distinctive theme.
Many boutique hotels have fewer rooms but offer more value added
services such as spas within the bedroom, breakfasts in bed or
even in-room massages. In the end, your choice of hotel really
depends on what you want out of your holiday.
You may visittarget="_blank">Hotels Search EU PTY LTD to find the most
trusted hotels at top destinations across the world.

July 12, 2005 14:35 - Breeze Through Airport Security
Author: Jed Clark
During the shake up a few years ago of the airport security
system, things got a little crazy and airport security went a
little overboard confiscating toenail clippers and hair mousse.
Thankfully those days of an overzealous security system are
behind us and a cautious, careful and reasonable security system
has take its place. With a little commonsense and preparation,
you can reduce the hassle and the time it takes you to get
through airport security and get your flight off to a great
start. Like most things in life, a little preparation goes a long way.
Preparation is especially helpful for a smooth move through
airport security. Before you even pack your swim suit, do a
little planning to make sure that items are packed appropriately
for that little visit with security. A little commonsense
applies. If you are traveling with anything that is a weapon or
could be used as a weapon, pack it in your checked luggage.
Sharp-pointed metal scissors, pack 'em in a checked bag.
Curved-tipped scissors are okay for carry-on. Despite some
stories you may have heard from friends, the following items are
allowed in your carry-on luggage: knitting needles, toenail
clippers, corkscrews, nail files, blunt-tipped scissors and
safety razors. The most common personal item that is not allowed
in checked or carry-on bags is a lighter. If you are a smoker,
pack a few books of safety matches in your carry-on bag instead.
If you are traveling with a laptop, it must be inspected outside
of your carry-on bag. So, you may want to label your laptop
separately by taping a business card or other identifier to the
bottom.
Pack all of your valuables, laptop, camera and camcorder
equipment in your carry-on bags. Camera film and equipment may
be damaged by the checked-luggage screening and you want to keep
your valuables in your personal care at all times.
Remember that checked luggage must be unlocked or locked with a
TSA-recognized lock (a lock designed with a special code that
security may use to inspect the contents of your bags). If you
are packing gifts, don't wrap them until you get to your
destination as security may have to inspect them.
Now that you're packed, it's time to dress for the airport.
Avoid wearing a lot of jewelry or metal items. Try to wear a
pair of tennis shoes or other comfortable shoes that doesn't
have a metal support in the sole construction (many thick-soled
dress shoes and high-heeled women's shoes use these). If you
pack your keys, cell phone or PDA in your pocket, prepare an
empty pocket in your carry-on where you can easily place these
items before you get to the security checkpoint.
When you're at the airport and about to go through security, the
most important thing you can do is to be prepared for the next
step in the process. Before you enter the security line, verify
that there is not a shorter line at another gateway that you can
use. As you enter the line, have your boarding pass and driver's
license or passport ready for inspection. Keep these items
easily accessible as many airports require you to show them more
than once.
As you approach the security checkpoint, remove all metal items,
keys, PDAs and cell phones from your person and place them in
your specially prepared carry-on pocket. You may also want to
remove your jacket and carry it over your arm until you get to
the check point.
At the security checkpoint, take your laptop out of your
carry-on. Place your laptop and jacket in the provided
containers. Place your carry-on bag on the conveyor. As your
items enter the scanner, it's time for you to breeze on through
the checkpoint.
Be sure to follow the instructions of the security screeners.
Remember they are there to ensure your security. If you are
pulled aside for a random screening, be courteous to the
security personnel. They are there to do a job and being
pleasant makes things a little nicer for both them and you.
A little commonsense and preparation can ease your way through
airport security and get your flight off to a great start.

July 13, 2005 19:25 - What you need to know about – hawaii islands
Author: Mansi gupta
Tired visiting the conventional holiday destinations? Want some
escapades? Want to electrify yourself? Then budge to holiday at
Hawaii and unravel the inscrutable anonymity of nature. A Short March in the Past Hawaii Islands were born thousands of
years ago from the underwater volcanic action. The oceanic water
nurtured the islands, which developed huge ecosystems. The
islands are whispered to be older than America and first
colonized by Polynesian migrants who had rolled up from
Marquesas Islands and were a bunch of superstitious and God
fearing people. However, Hawaii was christened as the 50th state
of USA on 21st August 1959. An Expedition to Hawaii
A glance at the mesmerizing red-hot lava making its passage to
the oceans lays bare the fact that the Hawaiian Islands are
still intensifying. There is a concealed volcano beneath the
Hawaii Island in the offing to be a part of the Hawaiian family.
However, at present the Hawaii Islands are network of world’s
six great and exotic islands namely-
1.Hawaii Island or the Big Island that is the largest amongst
the constituent islands. 2.Maui Island or Valley Isle that was
baptized after a legendary demigod Maui. The area of the island
is next to the Hawaii Island. 3.Lanai or the Pineapple Island
known for its delectable pineapples, is the smallest of all
islands. 4.Molokai or the Friendly Isle that cocoons some of the
breath taking and marvelous beaches of the world. 5.Oahu or the
Gathering Place that grounds the capital city of Honolulu is a
thickly populated island. 6.Kaui or the Garden Isle has out of
the ordinary flora and the bewitching Waimea Canyon.
The Hawaiian Islands are a perfect destination for both the
nature lovers as well the beach aficionados. The former can take
delight in hiking, sightseeing, horse riding etc. in the
enigmatic evergreen forests at Hawaii, while there are
inexhaustible and exclusive beach activities like underwater
tours, submarine drives and scuba diving and so forth for the
beach enthusiasts to have a ball. The wonderful Garden Island of
Kauai crams you with the feel that nature has preeminently
unveiled itself in the form of these gardens. The Molokai Island
magnetizes with its fishing and underwater activities and a
feather is added to the enticement of this place by the
incredible golf proceedings and events all round the year.
Hawaii has nestled some of the glorious golf courses like Mauna
Kea Golf Course, Challenge at Manele, Ko Olina and the like. On
the whole there are more than 80 golf clubs to bathe in the
splendor of golf. Not to overlook are some of the eminent
museums, the nerve wrecking night life and matchless cultural
events like Hula dance, Hawaiian chants etc. on the land of
Islands. You also have the opportunity to gain knowledge of some
of these activities by participating in the respective events.
What the Weather Conspires Hawaii is a place of all seasons. The
weather is stable all round the year with temperature
fluctuating from 80 to 60 Fahrenheit. The months of June to
November are a host to the hurricanes and the ones from November
to March are cherished and acknowledged for the gigantic waves
that whack the north shores of the all the islands. During
winters the breakers can be surfed at the Oahu’s north shore as
well as the Hoopika beach at the Maui’s north shore. The north
shore is hushed during the summers or the months of June to
October when the south shores particularly the Waikki and Poipu
beach are enlivened and perked up by the waves that are tossed
from the tropical storms in South Pacific.
Since the place is teeming with tourists all the year round, its
better to get your reservations done. Hawaii has legroom for the
luxury as well as the budget travelers. The complete information
can be accumulated either from your travel agency or the
Internet that has a catalog of all the hotels along with their
rents and amenities.
So hanging on for what… gear up to bask in the grandeur of
Hawaii!

July 14, 2005 19:31 - Exploring Himalayas
Author: Fantababy
"A hundred divine epochs would not suffice to describe all the
marvels of the Himalayas." -Sanskrit Proverb First we went to central railway station in Chennai. At that
time we couldn’t get the tickets to go to New Delhi. But we were
determined to start our tour. So we decided to catch a flight.
But immediately a person approached us and told us that he can
get us tickets to New Delhi by train. But we had to bribe him
some amount. We got the tickets in an air-conditioned coach.
A special mention about railway journey-A long journey in the
Indian Railways is always a great memory to cherish upon. Though
Indian Railways is slow and it takes two to three days to reach
the destination. The journey time is enjoyed by watching sight
seeing and by eating lots of food that comes frequently in the
train itself. Those people who are going to visit India, my
advice is don’t miss a long journey in Indian Railways. It is
always cheap and enjoyable.
We reached New Delhi after 1 day and 2 nights. We stayed in
Ashoka Hotel. We had to board the train to Kalka to reach Shimla
(gallery). The name of the train is Himalayan Queen. It is very
similar to the seating arrangements in an airplane. The train is
completely air-conditioned with chair car facilities. They gave
cutlets and bread to eat. But that didn’t suffice our hunger.
Actually we expected either of south or north Indian meals. We
reached kalka in the evening. From kalka we boarded the toy
train. The train went for 5 hours and finally reached Shimla.
Going in toy train makes one feel enjoyable. It goes very
slowly. We can enjoy the natural sceneries and the high
mountains of Shimla. While we went in the toy train, we ate
Punjabi meals which included rice, Punjabi dhal, roti and subji.
There were many foreigners who came with us in the toy train.
Foreigners always walk everywhere. I think this is the reason
why they have a very good health. We stayed in Hotel Ashoka
(Shimla), which is in the Mall road. We went for sight seeing
the next day. No rice was available there in Shimla. Only
chapatti was available in opulence.
In Shimla, we went to helipad (where helicopters land in). We
couldn’t see even the people who were opposite to us (due to
fog). In Shimla, we traveled in a maruthi omni car. While
traveling, we could see many apple trees with so many apples.
Roses were available in plenty along the road side.
We booked a bus to Manali. Our journey started in the early
morning at 6 am. The journey time from Shimla to Manali
(gallery) is around 10 hours approximately. Various Hindi songs
were played in the bus. We missed our breakfast. For lunch we
were provided only with bread along with tomatoes sprinkled.
During our bus journey, a small gushing water stream started
accompanying us. Slowly the gushing sound of the water increased
tremendously. The sound was more than the sound of a beach. The
bus stopped for tea break and everybody went near the river. We
washed our legs in the waters. The water was very pure.
We booked a room in Hotel Beas in Manali. The hotel is located
very near to the river Beas. We went inside the room for the
first time. We opened the back door and immediately we heard a
loud noise of the gushing river. I recommend the reader of this
blog to book the room in hotel Beas for the most enjoyable and
comfortable stay.
The next day we went for sight seeing in Manali and also for
shopping and we found a park. We played see-saw sacradown. For
the next day, we booked for Rohtang Pass. The Rohtang pass is a
place connecting Manali and Ladakh. It is always filled with
snow throughout the year. We reached Rohtang pass only by 4pm.
The journey was delayed due to heavy snow storm. There is one
noodle shop which also sells hot tea. We had to hire all the
necessary woolen jerkins, shoes, gloves, etc. before entering
Rohtang pass. We have to pay some amount towards these things.
>From Manali we went to Chandigarh. In Chandigarh the roads are
neat and tidy. There is a rock garden, which is famous. It is
said to be the 11th wonder of the world. In Chandigarh, lots of
trees are beautifully planted in both the extremes of the road.
So Chandigarh is always cool and attractive. The food in
Chandigarh was really fantastic. It was a typical Punjabi meal.
Rotis with subji, nan and curd at the end.
Our next adventurous destination was Mussorie. We did not find
any snow in Mussorie. But we found thick fog while we entered
Mussorie. In Mussorie, there is a skating field in the mall
road. There is also a hanging bus which can hold up to 12
members. We also went to company gardens by walk. There is a
lake and we went for boating. While returning we couldn't walk
so somebody gave lift for us. After quitting the vehicle, we ate
dosas after a very long hiatus. In Mussorie, juices are prepared
without adding sugar, water, masala, etc. But if one needs any
of these they will be provided. It is pure and also cheap
because they get it from the mountains.
We returned to New Delhi. We were sick of the north Indian Rotis
and we became very crazy about south Indian food. We could
identify a south Indian hotel named geetha bhavan in New Delhi.
They serve nice south Indian food. South Indians living in New
Delhi come here often to eat rice and other food. We left New
Delhi without seeing Agra (Taj Mahal). We reached Chennai.

The charismatic Cancun can quench anyone’s thirst for enjoyment
caressing the bountiful nature. The island is nestled in the
lately recognized state of Mexico. Cancun leaves a thrilling
impact on all its visitors because of more than a few reasons.
The place is blessed with some exotic beaches and a laudable
Mexican history. The natives of this bewitching place have
spared not even a single effort in refurbishing a ravishing
nightlife on their island. The out of the ordinary temptations— The island is a host two
numerous crystal clear beaches and is virtually divided into two
segments- the Hotel Zone and El Centro or the Cancun City. The
Hotel Zone is a meant to hail the tourists with a multitude of

activities. Your travel agency can service you with the
reservations. The charges fluctuate from hotel to hotel. The El
Centro is the area of the locals and is often thronged by the
outsiders due to the fantastic cultural festivals and activities.
The mystifying white sand and the large transparent water bodies
at Cancun encourage numerous relished water sports. You can
enjoy snorkeling and swimming next to dolphins at any of the
beaches and especially at places like Xcaret nature park, Xel Ha
and Isla Mujeres. But this is not all. If you don’t want to get
drenched in crystal blue water, try your hand at horse riding,
golf, kayaking etc. The Xcaret nature park that is around 35
miles away from Cancun has mind blowing coral formations along
with outstanding Mayan temples. The south of Cancun invites you
to the rare and diverse species of wildlife at the Sian Ka’an
Biosphere Reserve.
The climate of the place is mild throughout the year with above
80 degree Fahrenheit for 330 days. The average summer
temperature varies from 80 to 85 degree Fahrenheit. The rain god
is merciless during the months of March and April while there
are little or more showers during the rest of the months. The
climate of the place is such that it shores up the activity of
golf all round the year. Coming to the history and culture the
Mayan ruins and archaeological sites of Mexico are a treat to
the eyes. Tulum, a site near Cancun is regarded as the world’s
first lighthouses. The site of Chichen Itza that grounds some of
the bizarre Mayan ruins and El Castillo Pyramid is definitely a
destination to visit.
The cultural activities like the original Mexican dance at the
Ballet Folklorico Nacional de Mexico, the shopping and other
outdoor enjoyments at the small island coast of Isla Mujeres and
the like are worth watching and visiting on the soil of Mexico.
The nightclubs like Senor Frogs, La Boom, Congo Bongo and the
Parque De Las Palapas at El Centro facilitate scrumptious
cuisines with luscious drinks, laser shows and gentle music.
Cancun hosts more than 400 restaurants with miscellaneous food
ranging from sea food to Italian, Japanese, Caribbean to the
American dishes.
The precautions and arrangements Once you made up your mind to
visit Cancun, make sure that you immunize yourself against
Hepatitis A and B, typhoid and rabies. This is in order to avert
the threat of diarrhea, malaria and contact with any wild animal
during your visit. The CDC-Centres for Disease and Control
Prevention recommends the people particularly the tourists to
focus on total personal hygiene from washing hands and brushing
teeth regularly, drinking bottled water and not to buy food from
street vendors. The Chloroquine drug should be kept to ward off
the malarial infection. Finally keep a pair of sunglasses,
sunscreen lotions, summer clothes and a picture ID or your birth
certificate before boarding your flight to Cancun.
So move out, get baked in the sun at the breathtaking island of
Cancun!

July 20, 2005 21:15 - But Why Zambian Safaris and Tourism?
…Because Zambian safaris are Africa's best kept secrets! They’ve made Zambia the most enticing destination in African safari today. Livingstone in Zambia is now acclaimed, and rightly so, the southern Africa Adventure Centre!
The World Tourism Organisation (WTO) has ranked Zambia as Africa's No 1 emerging tourist destination.
The UK 2004 Trends and Spends Survey also awarded Zambia the No 10 ranking in the "best long-haul destinations". At No 10 Zambia is the only other African country in the top ten ranking
Zambia, the Land
Covering a total surface area of 752,614 square kilometers, Zambia is a large country. It is slightly larger than Texas State in the USA or slightly larger than France and Belgium combined. Zambia is generally a high plateau averaging
between 1,060 metres (3,500 ft) and 1,363 metres (4,500 ft) above sea level. This makes the country’s weather mild and pleasant.
Zambia’s water surface is 11,890 square kilometers equivalent to 2% of the land surface. The water bodies are mainly from the three natural lakes in northern Zambia. The fourth is in the south, the exciting man-made Lake Kariba. When commissioned in 1957 Lake Kariba was the largest man-made lake in the world. It measures 280 kilometres long and 40 kilometres at it’s widest.
Zambia, the People
There are over 73 dialects spoken in Zambia, but the official language is English. All media and business is in English and most Zambians speak it fairly well. Out of the
73 ethnic groups (tribes) 20 celebrate special cultural ceremonies on an annual basis. These manifest customs, social life, rituals, oral history, material and spiritual
culture. Visitors are welcome to watch these ceremonies.
During these traditional ceremonies the music and dance characterize quiet beauty, bustle, bounding life or brimming joy. The emphasis will vary from breathless acrobatic spectacle amid propulsive drumming to fine subtleties of sound and movement.
There is freedom of worship in Zambia with over 15 different churches. However, 60% of Zambians follow the Christian faith.
Zambia, the Natural Resources
Zambia has 19 national parks and 34 game management areas. The parks alone cover 47,662 square kilometres. This accounts for 6% of Zambian land. Some game reserves are privately owned while the major ones are state controlled. Zambia has
a wide variety and a large profusion of wildlife, both large and small and including over 741 bird species.
Apart from its abundant wildlife in parks and reserves, rivers, and lakes, Zambia holds 6% of the worlds copper reserves. It also has world-class quality emeralds,
aquamarines, amethyst and tourmalines.
Vegetation is savannah type with lots of trees varying in density. The climate makes Zambia suitable for a wide range of farming crops. Vegetables and fruits such as
citrus, bananas, pineapples, mangoes, avocadoes, all grow everywhere.
Zambia, the Climate
Although Zambia lies in the tropics, the general height of the plateau ensures that the climate is seldom unpleasantly hot, except in the valleys. There are three seasons: the cool, dry winter season from May to September; the hot, dry season in October and November; and the rainy season, which is a little hotter, from December to April.

July 21, 2005 21:29 - Florence in a Day
Overflowing with history, art and culture, Florence is a city that’s very hard to do justice to in a single day. A visit to the Uffizi museum alone could easily eat a day or two into any itinerary. If you’re fortunate enough to visit Florence for the first time, but unfortunate enough to have only a single day to savour the delights of this city, you will need to ensure that you have a plan.
So allow me be your guide for the day and take you on a whistle stop tour of the sights and sounds of Florence. I can’t promise you the Uffizi in a day, but hopefully at the end of the tour you’ll feel like you’ve seen the best of the city. Your only problem will be deciding when to come back for more!
The first thing you’ll need before you start your tour is a map of the city. The centre of Florence is pretty compact, so the best way to see it, without missing a thing is by foot. If you don’t have a map or a guidebook and you’re not the type that enjoys aimless wandering, make your first stop of the day one of the tourist offices where you can pick up a free map of Florence.
Starting off in the main Piazza, you’ll easily spot the famous Duomo, with its magnificent terracotta coloured cupola. If you are there early enough to avoid the crowds and feel you can face the 463 steps I’d recommend starting your tour by climbing up into dome for a spectacular view of the city. The Duomo is probably the most distinctive feature of Florence’s skyline and is the result of years of work spanning six centuries.
Once you’ve taken in the view, catch your breath with a leisurely stroll around the streets surrounding the Duomo, and then take a walk to the nearby Piazza della Signoria. Here you’ll find a unique outdoor gallery of sculptures, including Neptune’s Fountain and a copy of the famous Statue of David. You’ll also find the Palazzo Vecchio (the Old Palace) here. This was built in the early 14th century and is still used today for its original purpose, as a Town Hall.
Just beside the Palazzo you’ll find the Uffizi museum, with its unrivalled collection of Renaissance art. If you’re an art lover, you don’t want to miss the Uffizi, but it’s not something that can be easily covered in a short 2-hour visit!
Alongside the Uffizi you’ll find the River Arno, with its many bridges. If you take a right turn you’ll arrive at the Ponte Vecchio, the famed bridge that houses a multitude of goldsmiths and jewellery shops, with its medieval workshops overhanging the bridge. The bridge itself was built in 1345 and is the only bridge on the Arno that wasn’t destroyed in World War II.
Once you’ve crossed the bridge, you’ll arrive in the area called Oltrano, which literally means “Over the Arno”. Here you’ll find the Palazzo Pitti – a large 16th century palace. The palace was originally home to the Medici family who ruled Florence almost continuously between 1434 and 1743 and it now houses several important museums and galleries.
You may want to finish your day by taking a relaxing stroll in the Boboli gardens, which can be accessed through the Palazzo Pitti. These gardens were laid out in 1550 for the Medici a year after they bought the Palazzo Pitti and were opened to the public in 1766. Many parts of the gardens give stunning vistas over Florence and make a welcome retreat after a day of walking round the city.
If you have the time, it’s worth returning to view the Ponte Vecchio at sunset, followed by a walk along the bridge after dusk, when the lights on the bridge reflect on the River Arno and everything seems almost magical.
Finally, don’t forget to take a break from your sightseeing – stop for lunch or a drink in a pavement café, take some time to soak up the atmosphere and do a spot of people watching.

July 24, 2005 11:33 - Boston Vacations: Four Ways To Experience Beantown
Boston is a great destination city for a vacation. There’s plenty on tap to see and do, and it’s an easy city to get around on foot. And you’ll find Boston vacations a refreshing mixture of old and new. You can experience the start of the revolutionary war, take a bus on a river, and see a coral reef – and all before dinner.
The best way of getting around during Boston vacations is walking. That’s right the ole soft shoe shuffle. You’ll save time and see more by expending some shoe leather.
But for first time visitors I highly recommend an orientation tour first.
A SPLISH-SPLASH DUCK TOUR
One of the best, and most unique tours is the Duck Tour ride.
The tour is done in a renovated World War II amphibious vehicle. You get to not only experience Boston from the streets of the city, but also from the Charles River.
That’s right, during the tour, the bus you’re on will become a boat, and you’ll see the beautiful Boston skyline from the river that separates Boston from Cambridge.
You can pick-up and buy tickets for the tour at two places: The Museum of Science, and The Prudential Center in Boston’s Back Bay. During the summer the tours are usually sold out by lunchtime. The tour lasts about 80 minutes, and there’s no stops.
It’s a great tour and you’d have to be “quackers” not to do it! Sorry couldn’t resist it.
THE FREEDOM TRAIL
The Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mile easy-to-follow red brick line that links 16 historical sites together around the streets of Boston. It’s a one-way route starting from Boston Common and ending up at the Bunker Hill monument in Charlestown.
If you do the whole thing, plan on at least 2–3 hours, or better still take the whole day. You’ll pass by many landmarks on your trip, such as: The Boston Common, Boston Massacre Site, Paul Revere’s House, and USS Constitution.
The route takes you through Boston’s famed North End, where you’ll be sure to return during your Boston vacations to sample the superb Italian restaurants.
THE NEW ENGLAND AQUARIUM
As San Diego has its world famous zoo, then Boston has the New England Aquarium.
New England and its coastline have a history of fishing and whaling. But today instead of slaughtering whales, New Englanders spend most of their time saving them.
And the aquarium is a vital link in the area’s ocean preservation movement.
The centerpiece of the aquarium is the giant tank. The floors of the aquarium run around the tank and up four levels. At the top you get to peer down into a coral reef and listen as the staff explain about the tank and the fish that live in it.
You’ll get the answer to questions such as: “Why don’t the big shark fish eat the little tasty fish?” or “How old are those huge sea turtles swimming around down there?”
Your ticket will include a visit to the Discovery next to the main building, where you can see and learn about sea lions during an amazing show. A few years ago the Aquarium opened an IMAX theater that shows a mixture of sea-related and general science films.
A word of warning – this is a favorite Boston vacations attraction for families. But you’ll always get in, even when the ticket line seems to stretch for miles.
BEACON HILL
Sandwiched in a small area between Boston Common, and the Charles River, are alleys and narrow red brick cobbled streets, where time has stood still for the last century.
This is Beacon Hill, and one of the most popular walks for people on their Boston vacations.
Quiet and bewitching, it's a delight to walk. You’ll find walled gardens and an authentic 19th century neighborhood feel. Even the original gas lights remain on streets lined with ancient elms.
A favorite haunt for taking pictures is Louisburg Square. A picturesque block of residences perfectly preserved.
After you ramble up Mount Vernon street, wind your way back across to the Massachusetts State House that sits atop Beacon Hill and get your camera out again.
AND THERE'S MORE…
Three other places to visit on your Boston vacations are Cambridge, just across the Charles River, and home to the universities of Harvard and MIT – THE J.F.K Library and Museum at Columbia Point in South Boston – and the Boston Harbor Islands, tours to the islands leave from Long Wharf and Rowes Wharf, both located near the aquarium.
Boston has tons of things to do and see, and I’ve really just started to scratch the surface for you. The rest is yours to discover and as close as your favorite search engine and booking on the Internet.

July 25, 2005 20:34 - Hawaii Volcano Tour
A Hawaii volcano tour can be a most memorable experience,
and is readily available (short of eruptions!) year round.
While each island boasts some volcanic heritage, The Big
Island is where all the action is. A Hawaii volcano tour of necessity begins in Hawaii
Volcanoes National Park, established in 1916. This park,
containing more than 218,000 acres, is open daily and offers
guided tours and more. It encompasses both the world's most
massive volcano, Mauna Kea, at 13,796 feet, and Kilauea, the
world's most active volcano. Mauna Kea, which in Hawaiian
means literally "white mountain", gets this name from the
fact that it is quite often snow-capped. It is also thought
to be the world's tallest mountain when measured from it's
undersea base to the summit. Currently dormant, Mauna Kea
has also become the home of an important astronomical
center, where astronomers from all over the world vie for
spots atop the summit to view the heavens.
Kilauea, which has been in continual eruption since 1983,
gives visitors on a Hawaii volcano tour stunning views of
molten lava flows, steam vents, and vast lava fields. It is
said that this eruption has added more than 500 acres to the
Big Island since it's eruption! One more fascinating tidbit
about Kilauea, is that perched atop the crater rim
overlooking the caldera is the Volcano House, Hawaii's
oldest continually-operated hotel, dating from 1846.
Probably not hard to keep warm at night!
On Maui, one volcano not to overlook is Haleakala, a dormant
volcano in the middle of the island, long renowned for it's
fantastic sunsets. It's also a great place to hike or camp,
and especially ride a bike down! (Very Cool!) Good reason to
go to Maui. (As if you needed one!)
When you plan your Hawaii volcano tour, be sure to plan some
time to take in some or all of these sights. You'll be
forever changed!

July 27, 2005 16:38 - Hawaii Snorkeling - An Underwater Paradise!
Hawaii snorkeling is a fun activity available to almost any
skill level of swimmer, where you can discover a
breathtaking array of Hawaii's most exotic sea life a few
yards from shore. Colorful coral, lava flows, turtles and
more than 700 species of fish are found in the clear, high-
visibility waters warmed to an average temperature of 75-80
degrees Fahrenheit. Getting yourself outfitted is no
problem, as there are dozens if not hundreds of rental
facilities around, ranging in price from $10-20 day, and if
you're staying at a resort you can possibly score free
equipment available to their guests. Once you're outfitted and ready for some Hawaii snorkeling,
head out to some of Hawaii's best snorkeling venues. Likely
the most well-known of these is Molokini. The Molokini
crater is what's left of an extinct volcano a few miles off
Maui, shaped like a crescent moon. This is s must-see spot!
Other great Hawaii snorkeling locations on Maui include
Honolua Bay, Kapalua Bay and Makena landing. Honolua is
regarded by locals as the best snorkeling and diving spot on
Maui, while Kapalua Bay boasts calm waters, safe swimming,
and one of the world's best beaches. Makena offers excellent
cave snorkeling, and endangered green sea turtles. Other
Hawaii snorkeling spots worth getting wet in would be
Hanauma Bay Nature Park on Oahu, a marine preserve; and
Waimea Bay, best known for it's surfing. In fact, during
winter months snorkeling isn't permitted due to high surf.
On the Big Island there's Kealakekua Bay and Hapuna Beach.
If your Hawaii snorkeling plans take you to Kauai, try Ke'e
Beach and Po`ipu Beach Park.
Wherever your Hawaii snorkeling trip takes you in the
islands rest assured that there is practically no bad place
to dip your feet in! Be safe though; don't snorkel alone,
snorkel in safe waters, observe warning signs, and beware of
high surf. And don't feed the fish! They've survived
centuries without Cheezits; don't get them started now!
Your Hawaii snorkeling adventure is waiting just under the
warm waters of whichever island you choose. Don't forget
the camera!

July 30, 2005 09:56 - Cruise Ship Illness
Every year hundreds of people get sick on cruise ships. The cruise ship illness that scares most people is the one associated with the norwalk virus. Why? Because the norwalk virus causes diarrhea and vomiting for about 2 to 3 days....not a fun-filled experience.
What you need to know about this illnes is that it also occurs on land. Actually about 23 million Americans are affected by a norwalk type virus every year. Norwalk type illnesses are reportedly only second to the common cold.
The reason you hear about it on the cruise ships is because the cruise lines have to report an outbreak if more than 3% of the passengers become affected. And, of course, when they do, it makes news.
You can get the norwalk virus from hand to mouth activity or from contaminated food.
As you probably know, the cruise lines are doing everything to make sure their food is not contaminated and their passengers don't get sick. Sick passengers and bad news will kill their business.
So you don't have to worry about the food. That's pretty much handled. However, you do have to worry about getting infected from already sick or infected passengers.
See, if an infected passenger touches a handrail, for instance, and you touch it afterward, you are now potentially infected. If you then touch your mouth, or eat hand-held food before washing your hand, you'll then actually get infected.
Any surface other people touch can be an infection source for you.
This does not only apply on cruise ships, but back home on land in any public place. Door handles, elevator buttons, chairs, tables, hand shakes, etc., all can be sources of infection. So before you touch food or your mouth, always wash your hands.
It can be tough following this rule on a curise ship where there is so much activity going on and you may not always be close to a sink and soap. So one thing you can do is always carry a small bottle of Purell Hand Sanitizer with you. Use it before touching any food or your mouth.
If you follow this rule of always washing or sanitizing your hands before touching food or your mouth, you should avoid getting ill.

July 31, 2005 14:44 - Albany Western Australia - A Holiday Destination For All
Albany Western Australia is a city of approximately 30,000 people in the south-west corner of Western Australia, approximately 409km from Perth . The city is nestled between three large hills, Mount Clarence, Mount Melville and Mount Adelaide, facing the beautiful King George III Sound. The main industries of Albany Western Australia consist of tourism, fishing and agriculture, although before the 1950s whaling was one of the major sources of income and employment for the population. One of Albany's old Whaling stations has now become one of the biggest tourist attractions for the area.
Since that time, Albany has become popular destination for a variety of visitors enjoying the fresh air, clean beaches, and fine views over the Southern Ocean, while still proving to be a thriving regional centre.
There is so much to see and do in and around Albany too. We have pristine beaches, superb yachting facilities, awesome wildflowers (in season), caves and inlets, beach and sea fishing, breathtaking dives, whale watching, great shopping, sumptuous restaurants and a cosmopolitan cappuccino strip, magnificent art galleries, delightful wineries, world-class golfing, lovely lagoons and of course excellent accommodation. Our harbour is one of the most picturesque in W.A. too!
In Albany between June and September watch out for magnificent humpback and southern right whales, who pause to play a while in the surrounding waters before migrating north to the warmer waters to breed.
Albany is the major seaport of the Great Southern region, and the largest centre in Western Australia outside the metropolitan area. It is an expanding regional centre with a wealth of natural and man-made resources. It is surrounded by much of WA's best agricultural land, and the area is also rich in minerals. Albany, however, is primarily a holiday centre, and each year thousands come here to enjoy their holidays. The city is also used as a base to visit many beauty spots of the Great Southern.
At MyAlbany.net we intend to make as much information available to visitors and locals alike so that we all get to enjoy the variety of attractions that this beautiful town has to offer. Come and see Albany for yourself, you'll love it!
